Give All to Love

Michael Maglaras's new “essay in film” celebrates the 220th anniversary of Emerson’s birth with the documentary Ralph Waldo Emerson: Give All to Love. A deeply personal and engaging statement about the importance of Emerson's writing and thinking, and the force of his example, the film reveals Emerson the man as well as the philosopher.

Written, directed, and narrated by Michael Maglaras for 217 Films, Give All to Love features the author and critic James Marcus and was shot in and around Concord, Massachusetts, including several days of shooting at “Bush,” the Emerson family home.

Give All to Love had its world premiere in Concord on September 30, 2023. It’s now streaming for free online, with a runtime of 154 minutes.

We invite you to read more about the film and view it online here.

Give All to Love takes viewers “on a journey through the life and writings of the man who opened the lid of American consciousness.”
